Why We Need This Workshop

As women and birthing people, we deserve to know and take responsibility for our options in the birth (and the childbearing year). Childbirth has always been a rite of passage, and yet the modern, disease-based model of pregnancy has lost sight of the importance of the mother in its attempts to provide for ‘safe delivery’ of the baby. We go through pregnancy with often caring, yet limited, attention from health care providers. We assume the best for birth and then are surprised when nothing is what we expected or thought it would be. And we are left floundering as we try to make our way through the first months with a baby, confused, sometimes feeling broken, often our confidence shaken.

It is not supposed to be this way, and it doesn’t need to be.

While I can’t promise you that we will be able to reform the systems and institutions that are holding childbirth hostage in these two hours together, my hope is that we are all able to emerge with a more positive and empowered way forward. Each of you will have the makings of a map to help guide you to a better birth experience - one that honours you, your body, and your baby. One that respects your personal authority. And one that centres you, the woman/person giving birth, in your birthing experience.

Those who attend this workshop will receive a free 30-minute consultation with me, where I can answer any questions, help with your birth plan, or support you in finding clarity on your own path as a woman, birthing person, or birthworker.

Whom is this workshop for?

If you are pregnant, have been pregnant, or want to get pregnant, and you believe that we need to be accountable for our own wellbeing ‘beyond the basics’, then this workshop is for you.

If you are willing to explore what it means to take back birth, to view childbirth as a profound rite of passage, and to stand in your power in your birthing time, then this workshop is for you.

If you are ready to shift from the pervasive, mainstream belief that birth is a medical event to supporting the physiology and transformative nature of childbirth, then this workshop is for you.

If you want to learn what you can do to shift the dynamics of your birth experience, then this workshop is for you.

And if you want to be part of creating a new paradigm for birth, then this workshop is for you!
